Yesterday, the Council of State passed an act proposed by His Serene Highness prohibiting fur farming and slaughter of animals solely or primarily for their fur. The act was passed by 5 votes, 2 abstains and no opposition.
Fur farming is the practice of breeding or raising certain types of animals for their fur. Fur farming has been described as cruel, due to the treatment and method of slaughter of the animals within fur farms. Laws banning fur farming have also been banned in other countries such as the United Kingdom and Norway. The Montescanesque law prohibits both the act of fur farming and breeding of animals for this purpose.
