Sovereign Emperor bans coronavirus denial

National news

The Empire of Pavlov is a social and cultural project which seeks to model the society, customs, and traditions of the medieval Slavic principalities and the Roman Empire in a contemporary framing. The standards of what is and isn't acceptable were drastically different in the era that Pavlov is modeled after, and many of today's societal concepts didn't exist at all. More in the Disclaimer.

Sovereign Emperor bans coronavirus denial

6 December 7529 AM

In a drastic reversal of the previous policy, His Imperial Majesty Alexander IV, Emperor of the Romans and of All Rus', Victor of Moscovites, Pius Felix, Defender of the Faith, Turtle, and Elephants, may the Almighty God bless his reign, gave Imperial assent to an Act of the Senate repealing the  LXXXXIX Alex IV Coronavirus Act.

The Act first and foremost declares the provisions of the earlier act ( LXXXXIX Alex IV Coronavirus Act) null and void. Secondarily it provides for those found guilty of:

  • Spreading false rumors about the absence of the coronavirus pandemic
  • Not wearing face masks or discouraging others from doing so;
  • Opposing vaccination against the novel coronavirus;
  • Opposing the implementation of restrictive measures;

to be stripped of their titles and offices if a Noble and stipped of their Subjectship and exiled if plebeian.

The LXXXXXII Alex IV (Second Coronavirus Act) was penned by the same Senator who initially penned the LXXXXIX Alex IV (Coronavirus Act), HIH Tsesarevych Jaroslav Aleksandrovych, Most Noble Caesar. This led to questions in the Senate regarding the authenticity of authorship, with one Senator even going as far as proposing the Tsesarevych's account may have been compromised by anti-Pavlovian elements. After clearing this up, the Act quickly received 100% approval from the Senate.

When asked why he proposed the current Coronavirus act, His Imperial Highness replied to the Gazette that:

Despite our relatively small population, a number of Pavlovian subjects have already contracted COVID-19, and neighboring Lostisland made an unprecedented decision to ban reunions of citizens in the wake of a growing number of cases, including among senior government officials. Our primary responsibility is to ensure the physical and mental well-being of all Pavlovians, and I believe that passing this Act is a step in the right direction.

Upon passing of the Act, HIM Emperor Alexander IV, may the almighty God bless his Reign, immediately issued an Imperial decree, proclaiming that:

  1. We request Our Subjects to follow the hygiene rules, avoid public venues, and maintain physical distance (1.7 meters or more) from each other.
